Description
This project is an alteration and addition to a beautifully located home on the Brisbane River in Chelmer. The client’s vision is to enhance vehicle accommodation for their family while adding a spacious gym, all while preserving the site’s natural qualities and the distinct entry experience.

In response, a two-storey addition was proposed, carefully sited to consider planning codes, an existing garden courtyard, and the integration with the existing entry structure. The design ensures the new addition blends seamlessly with the house, making it feel as though it has always been part of the original home.

The lower level houses a covered carport and garage, while the upper level includes a gym and new study, both offering views of the surrounding landscape. The design embraces passive principles, incorporating natural daylight and ventilation. Additionally, the project accommodates solar panels, battery storage, and other essential building services.
